Authorised vehicle recognition distributor

AutoMatic

What is vehicle recognition?

Vehicle recognition lets you buy fuel through the vehicle itself, not with cash or a card. The vehicle is recognised at the pump; payment, limits and records take care of themselves.

With one car, you stop paying at the pump and your receipts stay in order. With a fleet, you set and report fuel limits for every vehicle separately.

We are Petrol Ofisi’s vehicle recognition distributor. We listen to what you need, prepare your offer and stay with you through set-up. You manage limits and reports in Petrol Ofisi’s AutoMatic web and mobile app.

What is UTTS?

UTTS (Ulusal Taşıt Tanıma Sistemi, Turkey’s National Vehicle Recognition System) passes a vehicle’s licence plate to the pump’s electronic cash register automatically, with no manual entry. It was introduced by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance through the UTTS Implementation General Communiqué (No. 1) to ensure fair competition in the fuel market and curb the informal economy. The State Mint builds and runs the system and shares the data with the Revenue Administration.

Who does it apply to?

  • Vehicles that belong to a business, or are leased, and are used for business.
  • Private vehicles that use a fuel distributor’s vehicle recognition system (since 1 July 2025).
  • Fuel stations, which must have a UTTS reader on at least one pump unit.

Certain public-administration vehicles, and vehicles of diplomatic missions and international organisations, are exempt.

Current status

The obligation is in force for petrol and diesel. The transition periods ended on 2 June 2025 for stations and 30 June 2025 for vehicle owners. Vehicles newly put to work have the unit fitted before use. For fuels other than petrol and diesel, such as LPG, the Revenue Administration has extended the deadline to 31 December 2026.

Why it matters

For vehicles that must carry a Vehicle Recognition Unit (TTB), fuel receipts issued outside UTTS are treated as never issued for tax purposes, so those purchases cannot be booked as expenses. Breaches are subject to the relevant penalty provisions of the Tax Procedure Law.

Older vehicle recognition devices

Devices fitted by fuel distributors can no longer be used after 1 July 2025; the TTB has replaced them. Vehicles with a TTB keep using distributors’ fleet services without interruption.

Compiled on 27 September 2026 from the Official Gazette, the Revenue Administration and the State Mint’s UTTS site. This is not legal or tax advice.

What you gain

  1. Cost control

Set spending or litre limits per vehicle or group. Your budget is protected at the pump, not at month-end.

  2. Closed to misuse

Fuel goes only to the registered plate, as the assigned product. Nothing other than fuel can be bought.

  3. No cash, no cards

No paying at the pump, no receipts to keep. Fuelling starts once the vehicle is recognised.

  4. Reports and one invoice

Which vehicle, which station, how much: it’s all in the report. Every purchase on one invoice.

  5. UTTS compliance

Receipts are issued under UTTS, so fuel expenses for vehicles within the obligation are properly documented.

Frequently asked questions

What is a vehicle recognition system?

It lets you buy fuel through the vehicle itself rather than with cash or a card. The vehicle is recognised at the pump, fuel is dispensed within set rules, and every fill-up is recorded per vehicle.

I only have one car. Is vehicle recognition for me?

Yes. Vehicle recognition isn’t only for fleets; individual drivers can use it too. Just choose “Individual” as the customer type in the quote form.

Is UTTS the same as vehicle recognition?

No. UTTS is the statutory system for recording fuel sales by licence plate. Vehicle recognition is a service offered by distributors such as Petrol Ofisi. Distributors’ older on-vehicle devices can no longer be used after 1 July 2025; UTTS’s Vehicle Recognition Unit (TTB) has replaced them, and vehicles with a TTB keep using vehicle recognition without interruption.

Does my vehicle need a TTB?

A TTB is mandatory for vehicles that belong to a business, or are leased, and are used for business, and for private vehicles that use a distributor’s vehicle recognition system. For those vehicles, fuel receipts issued outside UTTS cannot be booked as expenses. We recommend checking your position with your accountant.

What about LPG vehicles?

For fuels other than petrol and diesel, such as LPG, the Revenue Administration has extended the deadline to 31 December 2026. For the petrol or diesel tank of dual-fuel vehicles, the obligation already applies.

Who fits the TTB, and is there a fee?

The TTB is made by the State Mint, and only firms it authorises may fit it. The Mint sets the fee, which includes installation. The unit is single-use: it stops working if removed, and a new one is fitted when the vehicle is sold or its plate changes.

Can I set limits per vehicle?

Yes. You set spending or litre limits, plus region and time limits, for each vehicle or group. Each vehicle only receives its assigned fuel, and nothing other than fuel can be bought.

How do invoicing and reporting work?

All your fuel purchases come on a single invoice. You can see which vehicle took how much fuel at which station, on the web and in the mobile app. Invoicing periods and payment terms are set out in the offer.

Which stations can I use?

Petrol Ofisi stations. Fill-ups under UTTS are made at the station’s pump fitted with a UTTS reader. We review your usual routes with you when preparing the offer.

What do you need for a quote?

For individuals, your name, phone number and province are enough. For businesses, add your company name, approximate number of vehicles and vehicle types. After you send the form, we call you to go through the details.
